Global Design Project – Colour Challenge #GDP121

Sarah Berry Stampin’ Up! UK Independent Demonstrator | Global Design Project – Colour Challenge #GDP121

Today is a very exciting day for me, I’m now officially the newest member to the Global Design Project www.global-design-project.com The team is now up to a huge 121 set of weekly challenges and still going strong. It’s my pleasure to join this wonderful team of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators. Every Monday, a new challenge goes live at 10AM GMT and we invite you to join in and design a project with us.

The first challenge for me to take on is a Colour Challenge. I love a colour challenge! Please do leave me a comment, I’d love to hear from you!

I’ve picked up the Beautiful Day stamp set again, I love this new butterfly. It’s large and it’s simple wing pattern lends it’s self to colouring in. To me, this butterfly was crying out for some colour. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll have seen a sneak peek of this card, just as I was about to add colour to the butterfly.

FirstIy I stamped the butterfly in Versamark ink, then heat embossed with White Embossing Powder. I then added colour with an Aqua Painter, from drops of ink straight out of the ink refills. If you do recreate something like this in the future, a top tip would be to make sure you wash the ink out of the brush before changing colours otherwise, your colours will not be so clear.

Next step was to cut the butterfly up! Ouch! I really wanted the body of the butterfly to stand out so I had to get out my paper snips and cut out each wing. I stamped the body onto the card in Memento ink, then stuck the wings down with mini dimensionals.

Lastly to finish the card I stamped the greeting in black, careful to mask off the bottom line with a sticky note. Then with Stampin’ Write Markers, I coloured the words in a colour sequence.

Thanks for visiting, you can find lots more projects made using this colour scheme from our talented design team at the Global Design Project. Why not have a go yourself and upload your design to the challenge? Have your entry in by 5am GMT, next Monday 22nd January 2018, the winner will be announced that day.
